Wairoa is one of the latest additions to the Flamingos Life collection and our first retro runner sneaker, inspired by the iconic silhouettes of the early 2000s. This dynamic and comfortable sneaker is named after one of New Zealand’s most turbulent rivers, and its design incorporates elements inspired by traditional Māori warrior tattoos. With these energetic words in mind, we have designed a sneaker made from plants and recycled materials in Portugal, incorporating references from Māori culture—such as warrior tattoos that represent protection, strength, and ferocity.
