How do we do it?
Each Flamingos’ Life shoe collection is associated with an environmental and social project that acts to solve or improve a specific issue. How do we do it?
We make a monthly donation from part of the turnover of each shoe sale to a specific NGO. We choose the organisations with which we work carefully, maintaining direct monthly contact with them.
So, you’re not just buying shoes. You are part of the ecological activism that the planet needs to be able to develop sustainably. You’re helping to generate cleaner air by reforesting various areas of the planet, or you’re cleaning debris from the Pacific Ocean and recycling plastic bottles.
It’s not just you that benefits from the purchase: the planet does, too.
product > project > consumer
The fashion industry is the second most polluting industry on the planet and one of the most opaque sectors that exists.
Several million people, including children, are exploited within the supply chain that produces the clothes we wear.
Our philosophy revolves around three axes:
_ Making the fashion industry visible, ensuring its processes are transparent for consumers and providing all the information they need to make accurate and mindful decisions.
_ Using our company to provide solutions for the environmental problems that humans have caused in the last 60 years.
_ We do not kill animals. Animals have the right to a life without suffering, so we reject any concept of ‘animals as material’ that the fashion industry has developed over the last 50 years.
We make our shoes with post-consumer plastic bottle materials, plastics generated in the footwear industry that had reached the end of their useful life, organic cotton grown using just water (with no pesticides) and natural rubber sustainably extracted from the Hevea brasiliensis tree.
Each shoe collection is associated with a specific environmental project.
Together with Eden Reforestation Projects, we run several reforestation projects on a global scale that directly contribute to the reforestation of areas of Madagascar and Mozambique.
We collaborate with Waste Free Oceans making monthly donations towards collecting marine debris and creating educational projects to promote environmental awareness.
We aim to unlock the hidden truth of the fashion industry, working against the opacity and lack of clear information that dominates the sector.
We plant 5 trees for every pair of shoes sold in collaboration with the California NGO EDEN REFORESTATION PROJECTS.
With every pair of shoes that you buy, you recycle 2 plastic bottles from the oceans in collaboration with the organisation WASTE FREE OCEANS.
We manufacture exclusively in Spain to make the entire supply chain more democratic and to reduce our environmental impact.
Using corn as a raw material reduces CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by 92%, in comparison with leather.
What we have achieved so far:
planted 127,538 trees
generated 4,080 work hours generated
oxygen provided for 5,797 people each day
recycled 21,941 plastic bottles
